We went to see the movie “TOKYO!” last friday at Sunshine Cinema in NYC.  It had a Q & A with dir. Leos Carax after the show. He hadn’t made a film in ages… like 10 years? His previous films, ALEX series: Boy Meets Girl, Mauvais sang, and Les Amants du Pont-Neuf were purely amazing!! I was so excited about Denis Lavant (He was Alex). He is in this film TOKYO!, so i expected to see a love story. But… simply… i was disappointed… :( yet still worth to watch Carax’s new film though…

The Q & A was also something… No one really had a question to ask him at the beginning, maybe only a few… that was kinda uncomfortable moment… I wanted to see Carax in person, but after saw the film, I really didn’t have anything to ask… (Papan asked him a question :-D) Oh yeah, he didn’t smoke a cigarette this time. :P I thought he always smoke a tabacco, maybe I read so many magazine articles said that he always smokes.

Anyway… TOKYO! is an omnibus film with parts directed by three directors (Michel Gondry, Leos Carax, and Bong Joon-Ho). I really liked the Gondry’s one, and it was fun to watch how non-Japanese directors making a film in Tokyo. If you like Gondry’s film, I’m sure you’ll love it.
